In designated areas police have extra powers to stop and search you. Be aware when moving through the area.
Designated areas are often declared where racialised communities live, work and play.
Only 1% of searches results in a find in designated areas. These extreme powers are ineffective and target our communities.
It is a racialised policing practise that needs to stop.

DECLARATION OF DESIGNATED AREA UNDER SECTION 10D(1)
Planned Operation in Woodgrove Shopping Centre and Surrounding Area
The Assistant Commissioner, North West Metropolitan Region, acting as a delegate of the Chief Commissioner of Police, under section 10D(1) of the Control of Weapons Act 1990, declares as a designated area Woodgrove Shopping Centre and Coburns Central Shopping Centre, bounded by Coburns Road, Barries Road and High Street, incorporating all roadways and footpaths associated with the stated road and road related areas. (Road has the same meaning as in section 3 of the Road Safety Act 1986.)
