Ten IPANers turned out for the Big Walk for Refugees this morning proudly bearing the beautiful new banner Tory made.
War creates refugees & asylum seekers so the refugee rights & peace movements are natural allies.
We heard from one man who was finally granted permanent residency (PR) after 11 years of limbo, mental torture & separation from his family.
We met others who arrived on the same boat & 13 years later are still being denied PR by this cruel govt.
PERMANENT VISAS NOW ALBO!!!
Please write to your local federal Labor MP or Senator asking the govt to grant PR to the approximately 8000 asylum seekers who are still being denied it under the “fast track” system. It is totally unnecessary to keep torturing these fellow human beings.
