END FOREST MINING RALLY PHOTOS

On March 22nd, rallies were held all across the country, particularly in WA, in protest for the deforestation caused by mining companies.

The protests were sparked by outrage after Alcoa was fined for clearing Jarrah forests that were home to critically endangered wildlife, but we’re allowed to continue mining operations until 2045. With concerns of the extinction of the Black Cockatoo, as well as polluted drinking water, the protesters demanded that mining corporations be held accountable, and to immediately cease the destruction of forests, with chants to “end forest mining”.

In WA, around 3000 protesters gathered in Perth, while smaller protests took place all around the state, including in Albany, Mount Barker and Margaret River.
