The racists of March for Australia (MFA) are marching again this Sunday 30 August, claiming their march is about free speech.
While free speech is increasingly under attack, it is movements like Palestinian liberation that are bearing the brunt of these restrictions. We’ve seen MFA’s version of free speech in action this month, with the break-in and scrawled swastikas at the Semaphore Workers Club. March for Australia has openly targeted migrant and refugee communities, LGBTIQ+ people, First Nations people and abortion rights.
With Pauline Hanson’s One Nation growing in the polls, we take inspiration from the huge nationwide 14 August student rallies against Pauline Hanson’s racist One Nation party. This is a chance for all ages to build on their momentum. Several trade unions in South Australia are supporting the “No to racism” rally.
Organisers are doing their best to make our rally and march safe for everyone to participate in. We will be at a safe distance from the MFA event, and will not be engaging with them in skirmishes on the streets.
The “Yes to free speech, No to racism” rally starts at Mukata/Hindmarsh Square at 11:30 am this Sunday 30 August, then marches to Tantanyangga/Victoria Square at 12:30 pm. Please spread the word, and bring your friends and workmates.
